About

We come from the industry, not from software.

Kotana started in a record label, not a business plan. From the conviction that a craft as demanding as live entertainment deserves better than a spreadsheet and eight open tabs.

Why Kotana exists

I ran a label, Braize Records. I did what everyone in this business does: the contact in a CRM, the hold in a spreadsheet, the contract in an email, ticketing somewhere else, accounting somewhere else again. And every Monday, someone pieced it back together.

I am also a developer. I spent years building tools for other industries — industries that had long since stopped entering the same information five times.

The gap was impossible to unsee. Live entertainment carries a tooling lag nobody seemed willing to close: trade software stops before the ticket, ticketing starts after the contract, and in between there is a spreadsheet and a lot of tiredness.

I talked about it around me — promoters, touring agents, venues, festivals. The same account came back, word for word. Kotana is the answer we wished we had found: one tool, from first email to last transfer.

What we hold true

Information is entered once

The negotiated fee becomes the contract line, the budget line, the invoice amount. Nobody retypes it. When it changes, it changes everywhere.

The network drops, the show goes on

A basement, a field, a saturated cell tower. Scanning and payment keep working offline and resynchronise afterwards. That is not a feature, that is the job.

Your audience data is yours

The people who filled your room belong in your database, not a platform's. They are the ones who fill the next date.

The team

Five people, between engineering, product and the field.
